What it is
Membranes have not stopped at classic reverse osmosis. ALTR is building Velvet Blade, a system meant to cut ethanol molecules out while leaving the bits that give structure and aroma.
How it differs
No water is added, unlike diafiltration. Ethanol is supposed to leave only along a targeted membrane path.
By late 2025 the kit was moving into pilot scale, with commercial units talked about for 2026. It is another tool on the no- and low-alcohol bench, not cellar standard yet.
